TS-E 90 tilt demo A quick test to show the effect of a tilted focal plane. Focus point is the Eagle logo on the headstock of the guitar. The camera was about 4 feet from the headstock.

| f/2.8, lens
not tilted The normal DoF that you get with any lens at f/2.8. |
| f/2.8, tilted for minimum DoF Only a small part of the headstock is in focus here. |
| f/2.8, tilted for maximum DoF Quite a lot of the guitar is in focus despite the large aperture. Nice 3D effect due to the out-of-focus background. |
| f/20, lens not
tilted Just to show that even f/20 is not enough to bring the whole guitar into focus. Not much better than the photo at f/2.8 tilted. Note also the background under the guitar and compare the look to both the previous and the next photo. |
| f/8, tilted for maximum DoF. Note how the whole guitar is sharp and how the headstock stands out better over the more OOF background compared to the f/20 shot. |
